This is a collection of six interesting stories depicting the patois of the human condition. The first story, “Last Day of School,” deals with the thrill some students had while gearing up to go on their third term holiday to Abuja. “The Mermaid of Cambridge” is a mythical story about what was done to a certain mermaid who refused to allow the construction of a bridge across where it lived in the Ocean. “The King of the Middle Earth,” which is the central story in this collection is about how a certain man called Gopaal rose to defend his country and later became its king. Fighting battles and later established a stable kingdom. The next story, “Bossie the Gorgon” is an offshoot of “King of the Moddle Earth.” In “Drew the Gifted Child,” a disabled child who is born blind became a musical celebrity who earned immense fame and respect due to his hard work and exploitation of his talents and creative abilities. “Dreamland” is a story that condemns illegal migration and women trafficking.
